Sunday

We will mark the start of another school year, by blessing backpacks (and their owners!) Sunday.

EfM (Education for Ministry) will be displaying an information booth at coffee hour Sunday. EfM helps class members to learn more about the church and to discover their own ministries. Stop by our booth to find out more or to register for this year’s class. You can also contact Barbara Mackey at 734-222-9609.

Contributions for Pakistan Flood Relief may be made through Episcopal Relief and Development. Envelopes are available in the narthex.

Upcoming Events

The Sunday Forum resumes next Sunday, 12 September, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am.  The topic for this fall:  What is a saint?  Fr Charles Witke, facilitator

Church School begins again on Sunday, September 12, for all classes. Registration is in the Parish Hall, beginning at 9:20 am. Regular Sunday classes begin at 9:45 am.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Tuesday, September 14 to discuss, “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.    This story speaks of the strength of the humanitarian spirit to persevere in spite of daunting obstacles.  The evening begins with a pot-luck supper at 6:30 pm in the Lounge.  Over dessert and coffee the discussion will begin at 7:15 pm.   

Kids: Celebrate the Rev. Jeanne’s ordination. She’s a priest now! The Rev. Jeanne Hansknecht and St. Andrew’s children will meet at Colonial Lanes on Sunday, September 26 from 12 to 2 pm. Kids through grade 5 are invited to bowl and enjoy a piece of pizza and soft drinks as they celebrate with Jeanne. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Cost is $8.00 per person – including food, drink, bowling and shoes. Register today at the  Welcome Table. Questions 734.668.0273

Parish Announcements

Arbor Hospice will be starting their fall 8-week support groups the week of September 19. Two new groups being added are the Men’s Loss group and the  Young Adult group (for individuals in their mid-20s to 40s). Choirs Begin after Labor Day

Another season of joyful music-making is upon us! St. Andrew’s choirs are open to all interested persons- we welcome you! Please contact Deborah Friauff for more information.

Adult Choir: Weekly Rehearsals take place Thursdays 7:15 pm-9:15 pm. First Rehearsal is Saturday, September 11, 9:00 am -12:00 noon, with lunch to follow.

Bell Choir: Weekly Rehearsals take place  Wednesdays, 6:00 pm-7:30 pm, beginning  Wednesday, September 8.

Junior Choir (grades 3-8): Weekly Rehearsals take place  Wednesdays, 5:15 pm- 6:30pm, beginning  Wednesday, September 15.

Cherub Choir(grades K-2):  Weekly Rehearsals take place  Wednesdays, 4:30 pm- 5:15pm, beginning  Wednesday, September 15.
