Volunteer Opportunities
About the volunteers
The Breakfast at St. Andrew's has no paid employees and relies entirely on volunteers to run the program each morning. Regular weekday volunteers generally come on the same day each week. The weekend volunteers come one Saturday or Sunday per month. Substitute volunteers come on an as-needed basis.
What do the volunteers do?
Each morning 7-10 volunteers usually arrive at 7:00am to begin preparing the breakfast. Beginning at 7:30am breakfast is served "cafeteria style" with volunteers monitoring the stations of food: juice, oatmeal and grits, fruit, coffee and tea, cold cereal and milk. Other volunteers are responsible for actually making the food, and others still are in charge of washing and drying the dishes. Breakfast is finished at 8:30am and volunteers stay until 9:00am to clean up and set up for the next morning.
