Dear friends,

Pursuant to Article 3.04 of our congregation’s by-laws, the Wardens, Vestry, and I are calling a Special Meeting of the congregation on Sunday, December 15th. The purpose of this meeting is the consideration of amendments to our by-laws on the nominating and election process for vestry members and delegates to the diocesan convention, as described below. The meeting will be brought to order in the sanctuary immediately following the 8:00 am service. The votes of those in attendance at that time will be recorded and the meeting recessed until the conclusion of the 10:00 am service. Immediately following the 10:00 am service, the meeting will be called back to order in the sanctuary. Pursuant to Article 3.09, sixty-eight adult communicants in good standing shall constitute a quorum for this meeting.

The details of the proposed amendments can be found in the three attachments below. There is also a link to our complete by-laws. In summary:

  • The Nominating Committee will be expanded to include four additional members who are not currently on the Vestry, nominated by the Senior Warden and appointed by the Vestry.
  • The Nominating Committee will issue a public request for nominations, including self-nominations, submitted to the Nominating Committee by the end of October.
  • The Nominating Committee will present a slate of Vestry candidates and Delegates to Diocesan Convention candidates to the Vestry no later than the December Vestry meeting. The slate will contain at least the number of candidates as there are terms expiring at the next annual meeting. This change makes it possible, but not required, for the Nominating Committee to present a single slate of candidates.
  • The slate will be published to the congregation following the December Vestry meeting.
  • Additional candidates may be nominated by the submission of a written nomination containing the signatures of at least ten adult communicants in good standing by January 10th.

If you have questions or concerns about these proposed amendments, please speak to me, our Wardens Kay Wade and John Burhenn, or any member of vestry. We hope you will attend the meeting on December 15th.

Peace,
Fr. Paul Frolick
